Summary of program functionality

Import Logs

• The current release will import ARD2, WACARS (Airmaster mode), PC-HFDL (Airmaster mode), SkySpy, AirNav ACARS decoder, ZCARS and Airmaster 3/2000 logs..

DDE Link

• Log Analyser allows you to establish a DDE link with SkySpy, Airmaster 2000, AirNav's ACARS decoder and PCHFDL. This means live data gets passed to Log Analyser in real-time.

Photo Lookup

• If you have an Internet connection, you can right-click on any aircraft in the list views and view a photograph of the currently select aircraft.

Display log data

• The main interface of the program comprises 4 main views on your log data (see the screen shots for further details). All Log Records show all of the data imported. This can filtered by Registration, Flight Number or Date. Unique Aircraft/Flight Number and Unique Aircraft show filtered views of your data, providing details about when the aircraft was first/last heard and the number of times it has been heard. Double-clicking an entry in the log view pops up detailed information relating to the aircraft selected.

Reports

• There are a number of reports which allow you to print (to screen or printer) your data in a variety of ways. These are broadly based on the main interface views.
• Version 1.3.0 onwards can export a file in Aviation Databases 2002 TripLog format which allows the user to transfer their list of "heard" aircraft without having to manually type the data into Aviation Databases.

Database

• The database includes look-up tables for Aircraft and Carriers. These are used for the Aircraft Detail pop-up window and can be added to and edited by the user (so you can add new aircraft). As of version 1.0.15, it is possible to import data directly into the Aircraft table from the CSV file downloadable from ACARS Link.
• There are additional databases for Routes and Message Labels, which are used for lookup purposes within the program

Statistics

• New in version 1.0.15 is the Statistics screen. From here, you can see detailed statistics about the database and can also see how many aircraft from a particular carrier you have "heard".

This project is intended to be "a program for the masses"! A bit grand, we know, but what I really mean is that we want it to be full of features that people want to use. It will be a constantly evolving project, being improved over time using feedback provided by users.

We'd be particularly interested to hear if there are any other log file types that people would like included and the types of reports that would be useful.

From this page you can download the Log Analyser software. The demo version available here allows you to try the program for 14 days and is restricted to importing 1000 log records, but the program is otherwise fully functional. You can purchase a registration key that will unlock the 1000 log record limit. Please see the registration page for further information.

Once you have downloaded the main program, be sure to download the latest Upgrade release shown below to make sure you have the most recent version. See the Release History for full details of all the upgrade releases.

This program has been tested on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000 and XP, but should also work happily under Windows 3.x systems.

The program has some data already in the database for you to experiment with. You can easily delete this by selecting "Delete all records from database..." from the "Database" menu and add your own data.

Which files do I need to download?

If you have never downloaded Log Analyser before, download the Full Installation The current full installation is version 1.7.2.

If you have installed Log Analyser, but you receive an error when running it, you need to do the following (these additional files are required by Log Analyser, but I have not included them in the main installation, as many users will already have these files installed):

• If you have Windows 95, download and install DCOM95
• If you have Windows 98, download and install DCOM98
• Download and install Microsoft Data Access Objects

By registering the program, you will always have access to the most current release of the program. This contains many additional features not available on the demo version. Check out the Release History to see which features have been added since the demo version.

Upgrading

Please note, we have changed our upgrade procedure. If you wish to upgrade to the latest release, please email us with your User Name and Registration Code and we will send you the most up-to-date release.

Registration

ACARS Log Analyser for Windows is Shareware. In order to remove the 20 file limit on the importing of Logs, please register the program. Registered users will receive free upgrades to all v1.n.n versions of the program (this will cover all newly added functionality for different log formats).

You can register online, or by post. Using either method, once we have received your order, we will email or post you a unique registration code. Once entered into the program, the 20 log limit will be removed, allowing you to import an unlimited number of log files.
